Ring Camera Security

Reports have come in over the past week regarding Ring security cameras being taken over by unauthorized parties.

Interhack's C. Matthew Curtin joins 10TV in the studio to discuss the Ring security camera.

Curtin points out that while a product may be advertised as a security product, there's no guarantee that it won't have security problems of its own.

Ring said that their own systems weren't breached but that the victims' own email addresses and passwords were likely compromised elsewhere, or guessed by the attackers.

This is another example of how multifactor authentication can be helpful, but ultimately shows that all functions have tradeoffs, and people should understand the risks as well as the intended uses before enabling any technology.
