What Is Encoded On Your Driver's License?

C. Matthew Curtin shows data encoded on the Ohio Driver's License to 10TV's Tara Jabour.

When confidentiality of a database is lost, people wonder just what information has been compromised. Driver's licenses are often scanned to gain entry to government buildings. Are sensitive data like social security numbers subsequently compromised?

Interhack Founder C. Matthew Curtin sat down with 10TV's Tara Jabour and demonstrated what data could be retrieved from Ohio driver's licenses. Curtin used magnetic strip and barcode readers to extract data from Jabour's licenses and showed what information could be recovered.
