Speaking with Spectrum News, Curtin comments on the impact of potential retaliation by Russia for sanctions imposed by the United States.
Noting that avoidance is not a strategy for staying secure, Curtin pointed out that organizations and individuals can reduce the size of the target that they represent by making explicit decisions about what kind of Internet-enabled services to use.
"You need to make sure that your systems that are internet facing are hard, they’re not exposing vulnerable systems that can be exploited and then you need to make sure you follow through with all of the training with the people and with the technology so that they’re working together and continue to update...It’s a matter of maintaining a secure posture."
