Curtin to Open OHA Security Seminar

The Ohio Hospital Association Security Seminar will open with commentary by Matt Curtin.

The Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) will host a seminar on HIPAA Security Rule compliance as part of its effort to support its membership on March 30, 2005. Before the day's presentation gets underway, Interhack's Matt Curtin -- a board member of OHIO for EDI, the Reginal Affiliate of the Strategic National Implementation Process (SNIP) -- will offer remarks to place HIPAA security into the proper context.

Abstract

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) has ushered in some of the most dramatic changes the business of healthcare has seen in decades. Its Security Rule has forced information security in the sector to go from a vague goal to a specific program requiring administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. How can small organizations in particular get compliant without making compliance the sole objective of the organization?
