Is Network Security an Oxymoron?
Interhack founder Matt Curtin will deliver a
presentation on large-scale computer network security
at the April 23, 2003 meeting of the
Central
Ohio Chapter of the ACM.
Abstract
With the ongoing problems that plague network
computing, and Internet computing in particular, we
might well wonder whether network security is even
possible. We will consider a definition for security,
consider some security failures, and determine what
kinds of commonality can be found among some of the
most typical failures we've seen.
Using that as a problem statement, Curtin will lead
the group through a discussion of some strategies that
can help to bring Internet computing closer to
achieving security, as it was defined at the
outset.
