Bob Mathis joined Interhack's Forensic Computing
practice as a staff Scientist in January 2007. He
brings more than twenty years' experience as an
independent software technology consultant working for
NASA, the US Army, the US Navy, the US Air Force, the
State of Ohio, BankOne and Nationwide Insurance.
Prior to joining Interhack, Mathis has directed three
small businesses in the software technology industry,
most recently serving as president and chief
consultant at Pithecanthropus Consulting, Inc., a
start-up that specializes in Java tools and software
development. Mathis has also served as an expert
witness on behalf of the US Air Force in a
multi-million dollar computer software contract
dispute and a private company dispute related to
compiler implementation. Additionally, Mathis has
served as:
- Convener of the International Organization for
Standardization's Working Group on Ada, Lisp/Prolog
Study Group and Java Study Group
- Director of the Ada and STARS (Software Technology
for Adaptable, Reliable Systems) Joint Program
Offices in the Office of the Secretary of
Defense
- Principal scientist and technical director of the
Software Engineering Laboratory of the Contel
Technology Center
- Executive director of the Ada Resource
Association, an industry trade association
- Member of the committees for standardization of
Common Lisp (served as chairman); international
standardization of programming languages (served as
chairman) standardization of ISLisp; Prolog; Scheme;
ECMAScript (JavaScript; C#; and Java).
Mathis is also currently a senior lecturer for the
department of computer science and engineering at The
Ohio State University, where he teaches classes on
programming languages, computer ethics and Java. He
has also served as a computer science faculty member
at George Washington University, George Mason
University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University, and Old Dominion University. Mathis holds
a doctorate in numerical analysis, as well as
bachelor's and master's degrees from The Ohio State
University. He resides in Upper Arlington.
