Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence Research (LAIR)
The Ohio State University, Department of Computer
and Information Science
The LAIR team is pursuing several avenues of
investigation into machine learning, neurocomputation,
advanced decision architectures and perception. LAIR
focuses artificial intelligence (AI) research on
real-world tasks such as: visual and speech
perception, sentence understanding, medical diagnosis,
collaborative knowledge environments and engineering
design.
Research organizations are often particularly
sensitive to both funding support for new initiatives
and the ability to produce results. That's why when
LAIR needed to update a complex set of AI tools
developed years before at the Laboratory, they called
Interhack.
Having started as a research organization itself in
1997, and being dedicated to bringing efficient
solutions to even highly complex problems, Interhack
was a natural fit for a collaborator. Well-versed in
the sophisticated programming language of ANSI Common
Lisp, Interhack's team was able to bring the right
expertise needed to ensure that LAIR's tools stay
current, keeping its researchers productive.
